Children's dentistry: a healthy
mouth with
“Just Cool”

Your child should visit the dentist for the first time as soon as the first tooth comes through. This dental visit is covered by basic insurance for all children up to age 18, and there is no deductible or additional payment needed.

Thus, as a parent, you do not need to have dental insurance to provide your child with the necessary dental care at no cost.

The ‘Just Cool’ method: a flawless set of teeth for every child

The ‘Just Cool’ method is a preventive approach that guides children ages 0 to 18 and their parents/caregivers toward healthy, flawless teeth. The dentist or dental hygienist tailors the advice to the unique needs of each child.

The oral health care provider makes a risk assessment based on several factors:

  • The child's oral health.

  • The breakthrough of teeth or molars.

  • Whether the child is changing.

  • The presence of (incipient) cavities.

Based on this assessment, the frequency of appointments is determined. Additional treatments, such as tooth sealing or fluoride treatment, are sometimes required, but in most cases they are not necessary. Because the method focuses on the individual, the approach may differ for each child within a single family.

Brushing: The foundation of healthy teeth

A healthy mouth starts with proper tooth brushing with fluoride toothpaste. Encourage your child to brush on their own, but keep in mind that they do not yet clean everywhere equally well. That's why post-brushing is crucial!

Polishing advice:

  • Children up to 10 years old: Brush at least once a day, even if they brush electrically. This not only teaches them the importance of oral care, but also helps make brushing a good habit.

  • For ages 10 and up: Continue to guide and monitor brushing along with the oral health care provider.

The ‘Just Cool’ method is a collaboration between you, your child and the oral health care provider to keep teeth healthy and flawless.
